Iron Sky is a Finnish-German-Australian science-fiction
comedy, a sentence I never thought I’d ever say. It tells the story of Nazi
soldiers who, after being defeated in 1945, fled to the Moon where they built
a space fleet to return in 2018 and conquer Earth. But what did guest
reviewer “Crazy Joe” think of it?
German humour, Nazi invasion. Both = A Lost Cause.
I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest he didn’t like it.
I will say that some of the comedy doesn’t work but in general it’s pretty
entertaining. It’s odd, very, very odd. From the albinoisation of our hero to
the film’s chief antagonist becoming campaign leader for a satirical take on
Sarah Palin. It’s far from the best film you’ll ever see and you’ll spend as
much of it questioning what you’re watching as you will laughing but it’s
certainly worth a look if you’re open-minded and easily entertained. It should
also be noted that Laibach provide the soundtrack… I like Laibach, sample some
of their previous work below. Iron Sky is available to buy on DVD &
Blu-ray.
